F is for Filing
Another story about the air-headed receptionist...
About two weeks after the receptionist is hired, I get called into the branch president's office. He's on a rampage because no one can find any of their files in the cabinets. I am assigned the task of going through the filing cabinets and reorganizing them. The receptionist does all the filing.I start going through the files.
This is a partial list of what I found:
City & County of San Francisco - filed under C for City. Foster City is also filed under C for City. San Mateo County is filed under M for Mateo.
Dr. John Smith is filed under D for Doctor.
One file for Henry Jones, LLP is filed under L for LLP. Another is filed under J for Jones.
Macy's is filed under S for Store - because she shops there.
The Fairmont Hotel was filed under H for hotel, but moved to T for The because "the name starts with T."
Chevron is filed under G for Gas.
Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) is filed under E for Electric.
While I'm reorganizing the files, the receptionist comes up to me and asks "Mellie, does Law Office of John Doe get filed under L for Law or O for Office?"I am also asked to retrain the receptionist to file correctly. I tell the receptionist about training her and her response is "oh, I already learned how to file from taking a class." My response was "but did you pass the class?"

One night at the dinner table a few years ago:We were having asparagus. My sister says, "Mom, what kind of animal does asparagus come from?"
... and didn't know why everyone was laughing.
