The two best things that have happened to me this week besides seeing David Tennant play Richard II:

Seriously.

I don't even remember how I found them, but I love them.

So, I secretly love Shakespeare...

OH HEAVENS. I JUST DIED. THERE IS NO FONT BIG ENOUGH FOR WHAT I'M FEELING RIGHT NOW.
THIS PRODUCTION WAS PERFECT.

This is me every single time I see a stage production. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

What's wrong with you?!

I've just read the most interesting article. It's called '23 Things You Should Never Say to a Childfree Woman.' Until reading it, I hadn't realized just how many of them I have actually heard and dismissed, and most of them by people in my christian circles! You'd think that being a Christ follower, people would be more loving and accepting towards others' decisions (whether they are Christ-centered or not), but I guess sometimes they're just not, and that's the honest truth. Sometimes, you just have to accept that others make different decisions than you, people! Just sayin'.

The things I've heard in response (off that list) to my not wanting children:

-"What a bad decision."
-"You're a crazy cat lady in training."
-"You think you're tired? You don't know what tired is."
-"You're being selfish."
-"You'll change your mind when you meet the right man."
-"You're missing out on one of the best things in life."
-"It's a mom thing."
-"That's a shame. You might regret it."
-"But you would be such a great mom!"
-"You think you don't want children, but once you have them you'll change your mind."
-"You don't have children, so you won't understand."
-"You don't know what real love is."
-"Wait until your biological clock kicks in."

And, my personal favourite:

-"What's wrong with you?!" (My reaction to this one usually goes one of two ways: "Nothing! What's wrong with you for wanting them?" or "Lots. But Jesus still loves me regardless.")

And that right there, ladies and gentlemen, is why I don't openly volunteer the information anymore. When people say things like that, I tend to get defensive really quickly, and then things just get messy and I don't like messy (I know, I know... a cook who doesn't like messy, ha ha ha. Whatever.). I just wish people could be more loving sometimes, is all. But, as always,

God is good. All the time. God is good.

Be still and count stars

Home again, home again, jiggety jig... yup.

I had a bunch of good news today, and it made me want to dance a jig, so that was nice.

I'm back in the land of cell reception and good internet connections, and this year I'm hopeful I can ditch the snow and flee to where they eat sheep's stomach, the men wear skirts, and the land that stole my heart in 2011.

Friday is closer to Monday than next Saturday is...

Turns out I'm leaving on Monday. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I've also been in the mood to write for a solid three days now, but no words will come out.
